The Toledo Blade is reporting that RAVE Motion Pictures will be opening IMAX-like theaters in the Toledo and Fort Worth markets. Jeremy Devine, Vice President of Marketing for RAVE, is quoted as saying, “”We’ve actually ripped seats out, we’ve curved the screen, we’re enlarging the sound system, and we’re installing a higher level of digital projection…Our only problem at this point is we haven’t decided what to call it.” According to the Blade, the theaters will feature a floor to ceiling, wall to wall screens and are being called IMAX-like as they are not using IMAX-branded equipment or installation. This news comes less than 60 days after RAVE and IMAX announced a joint venture agreement for 13 new digital IMAX theaters nationwide.
